This will depend on the condition being treated, however an EMLD treatment takes about 45 – 60 minutes. If CDT is used this will be longer as the bandaging is extensive and has to be applied with care. EMLD is used as an intensive series of treatments, often daily, until the condition significantly resolves. In some instances the active involvement of the horse’s carer is required, for example to exercise the horse before and after bandaging as part of CDT, and to maintain scrupulous skin care to prevent infection.
Because EMLD and CDT can be used for a wide range of conditions, charges are dependent on the course of treatment required for the individual horse, so please contact me if you would like further information about these. However, charges should be covered by your insurance if your vet confirms that EMLD is part of the recommended treatment regime.
